Yes, it’s possible. We are pioneers in the transformation and alteration of residues that later turn into the raw material of our eyewear.
To this day, we recycle, transform and handle the following materials:
· Terephthalate: (r-PET) available in the Eco-Silicone collection. All of our terephthalate come from regular consumption plastic bottles.
· High Density Polyethylene: mostly know as HDPE, it’s present in some of our Hybrid collections (Hybrid Bamboo and Hybrid Rubber). All the high density poly ethylene comes from consumption bottles, specially shampoos and de tergents.
· Aluminum: you can find it in our Hybrid Metal and Eco Aluminum collections. All of the aluminum used comes from soda and food cans from the food industry.
· Cork: exclusively present in our Cork Collection. All of our cork is processed and solely comes from stoppers and utensils of single use only.
· Rubber: collected from the world’s biggest tire landfill in Kuwait, the rubber employed in our Rubber Collection and Hybrid Rubber Collection comes from cars, trucks and plane tires.
Every year, 300 million tons of waste is discarded around the world, 85% of these residues are not recycled and end up buried, burnt or floating in the sea, polluting our planet.
In Parafina we have the objetive of fighting this, collecting the residues before they are burnt, buried or thrown into the sea, to create eyewear. We believe that the basis of any company lies in sustainability and responsible production.
You have to take into account that two identical glasses can come from residues from different parts of the world. Our production process is long and tedious since the waste comes from more than twenty landfills spread across the world; these are mainly located in India, Russia, China and Indonesia.
Once the waste has been identified it is carried to processing plants that prepare it so that it can later be turned into eyewear in our factory in China. All of the final assembly is done in Spain, where the eyewear is distributed to the final client.
Parafina’s eyewear manufacturing process happens in two subprocesses. First turning the waste into raw materials and a second of processing that raw materials into the optical frame.
No. Nowadays lenses cannot be recycled, and that’s the only part of the eyewear that is not made by Parafina, but from an external company. Parafina lenses are made in Germany and they comply all the rele vant certifications.
All of the lenses are polarized and are made from the highest quality polycarbonate, counting with the maximum absorbents of UV. Our lens is also extremely shock resistant, hence suitable for certain sports and outdoor activities.
The protection is the same, the only difference is that the filters of a polarized lens provide the user a greater visual comfort, avoiding highlights caused by the sun in different surfaces, like roads or snow.
Yes. All of our eyewear has got international certificates that endorse various areas: ISO, Fair Trade, ECO product, B CORP.
Not at all. The only difference is that unlike our competitors we don’t create more plastic, CO2 or waste to create our eyewear.
All of our lenses are made in Germay and have an international certification so that they can be sold worldwide. Every Parafina lens offers absolute protection and UV400 absorption.
