Sun Protection Technology

Sun protection technology focuses on providing effective defense against ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, which can be harmful to the skin and eyes.

A key aspect of protection is that sunglasses are equipped with filters designed to absorb or block harmful ultraviolet rays. UV filters are commonly classified into three categories: UVA, UVB and UVC. UVA and UVB are the most relevant to eye and skin health.

Polarized lenses are designed to reduce annoying glare caused by sunlight reflecting off of surfaces such as water, snow, and pavement. This not only improves visual comfort, but also provides greater clarity and contrast. Anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings also reduce unwanted reflections and maximize light transmission through the lenses.

In addition to UV rays, some sunglasses are designed to filter out certain wavelengths of visible light, especially those considered potentially harmful, such as blue light.

The choice of lens material can affect the quality of sun protection. Materials such as polycarbonate, as in Parafina, and polyvinyl acetate (PVA) are known for being lightweight and durable, while also offering good UV protection.

Sunglasses are often categorized by how much light they block. This ranges from lighter categories, suitable for cloudy days, to darker categories, ideal for bright sunlight conditions. All of our glasses are certified Category 3.
