Positive Impact: Social Commitment

At Parafina, we are triple impact and we have been since our birth in 2014. We want to generate a positive impact and one of the key pillars in which this impact materializes is in our social commitment.

Our commitment to changing the world goes beyond our products. We promote education as a transformative axis for society and the future of our planet through the dissemination and awareness of our PARAFINA community and through support for quality education with our own PARAFINA Social Project.

Through the PARAFINA Social Project, we donate 5% of our sales to school scholarships so that low-income children in the small suburb of Fátima, in Asunción, Paraguay, can have a better future. A project with which our founders had a historical personal connection and in which our PARAFINA team is constantly present, ensuring the good development of the students.

PARAFINA Social Project is based at the Jose Mª Bogarin LaSalle School in the Fátima neighborhood of Asunción, Paraguay. It is a school that opened 50 years ago to provide a better future for the children of an area of the Bañado Sur in Asunción. In 2022, there are 605 students enrolled from kindergarten to ninth grade (15-16 years old). The school's neighborhood is a low-income area with homes that are mostly unsupported and without title deeds. The families in the neighborhood, many of whom have migrated from the interior of the country, in addition to economic needs, face a lack of educational and health resources.

In 2014, we started the PARAFINA Social Project with scholarships for the poorest children in the neighborhood. Since the beginning, we have funded 485 scholarships, supporting the dreams of tomorrow's change makers. These annual scholarships cover the full monthly school fees, school supplies, and tuition fees. They also enable children to access free school canteen services and health checks. But the most important thing about these scholarships is that they provide them with a safe space to play, develop, and a better future.

Since 2019, we have also been funding a School Support Project. This project was developed in response to the needs of a large group of students for extra support in the face of academic difficulties, psychological or behavioural problems, as well as providing specialised support to the school's teaching staff. The team that develops the project is made up of a psychologist, a psychopedagogue and a teacher. Between the three of them, they are currently doing individual therapies with 205 children and school support for 70 students.
